Too many of the foods served by Aramark contribute to diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and other chronic diseases. Leading health organizations like the Mayo Clinic, Kaiser Permanente, and the Obesity Action Coalition have called for balanced menus that emphasize more servings of fruits, vegetables, legumes, and grains, and fewer servings of disease-causing meat and egg products. Dozens of other food service managers have done just that—but not Aramark. Aramark continues to serve too much unhealthy and disease-causing food, putting their profits ahead of our health. It’s time for Aramark to serve balanced meals.

Aramark Foods are contributing to a public health crisis

Aramark puts their bottom line before our health when deciding what to serve our families. 

Disproportionate amounts of unhealthy, disease-causing foods are served in Aramark schools, hospitals, universities, and offices. 

Diet-related diseases are our country's leading causes of preventable death.

Heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and even cancer are associated with the types of unhealthy foods served in Aramark cafeterias.

The federal dietary guidelines recommend at least 50% of each meal be fruits and vegetables, 15-20% be grains, and limit meat and eggs (protein) to 15%. 

Further evidence suggests replacing even small amounts of unhealthy meat and eggs with health-promoting fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains has significant health benefits
